Higher SEAI Solar Grant: Up to €9,000 for Solar Panels and a Battery

If you receive certain social welfare payments, SEAI will pay up to €8,400 towards solar panels on your home, plus €600 for a battery. That’s up to €9,000, compared with €2,400 on the standard grant. For many homes, the higher grant covers most of the cost of the system.

Who qualifies?

You may qualify if you own and live in your home, and you yourself currently receive one of these payments:

  • Fuel Allowance
  • Jobseeker’s Allowance, for over six months, with a child under seven
  • Working Family Payment
  • One-Parent Family Payment
  • Domiciliary Care Allowance
  • Carer’s Allowance, living with the person you care for
  • Disability Allowance, for over six months, with a child under seven

The payment must be in your own name. A payment to someone else in your household doesn’t count.

Your home must also:

  • have been built and occupied before 1 January 2025
  • have an MPRN (the 11-digit number on your electricity bill)
  • not have had an SEAI solar PV grant before

Landlords can get the standard grant only.

How it works

  1. Free survey and quote. We check your roof, your usage and your eligibility, then give you a written quote with the system size.
  2. You apply to SEAI. You apply online yourself, naming our company and the exact system size. SEAI then sends you a grant offer.
  3. We install. We only start once you have your grant offer. Starting before then can cost you the whole grant.
  4. BER and paperwork. You book a BER assessment after the install, and we send SEAI the completion paperwork.
  5. SEAI pays the grant. This usually arrives four to six weeks after everything is submitted.

You have eight months from the date of your grant offer to finish the work. Before we book your installation, we’ll ask to see a recent letter or statement showing the welfare payment in your name.
